Thank you so much for visiting my website.

I hope that you enjoy my story and my creations. I believe we are all created in the image of our Creator and that is what motivates me to paint. My passion is for reflecting His creation that I observe in my everyday life and then sharing my gift with others. A native of Raleigh, NC, I now spend half of the year at Topsail Beach with my three labradoodles. For many years I specialized in watercolors, but now I also enjoy painting in oils and acrylics. Light and its effect on each subject are what excite me to paint, but if you look at my paintings, you can see that I also love color.

Beach scenes are some of my favorite subjects because the strong sunlight creates exciting patterns and designs on everything it touches. I love to capture children on the beach and with sixteen grandchildren, I have had plenty of models. I have studios in both Raleigh and Topsail Beach. I spend the cold months in Raleigh where I love to either set up a still life or paint from photographs that I have taken through the year. My computer has files full of my photos organized so that I can quickly find a subject that interests me. I also teach classes in Raleigh and enjoy sharing what I have learned with others. At Topsail Beach I have a studio that overlooks the water. It is a wonderful place to be inspired and to paint. I will often take my backpack filled with my watercolor supplies and head outside to paint. God’s beautiful creation always thrills me and provides my inspiration.

North Carolina’s “Our State” magazine recently had an article about Topsail Beach, where I spend the warm months. I have a painting hanging in the Main Street Inn there that was commissioned by the owner’s husband as a gift for her. I was honored to have it featured in the article of this wonderful place to visit. I have painted many of the local landmarks at Topsail and sell prints of them both at a local shop and on my website.

I have been drawing or painting for as long as I can remember. I majored in Art Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro but I didn’t pursue painting full time until I had raised my family of five and finally had time that I could call my own. To reboot my art skills, I took a number of workshops and lessons. I had never painted in oils before so I decided to try my hand at them about five years ago at a wonderful event we have every Fall in Raleigh, NC that is sponsored by Jerry’s Artarama and is called “Art of the Carolinas.” They bring in artists from all over the country and offer workshops in all sorts of mediums often providing all of the materials needed for the workshop. They also have one of the biggest trade shows in the country and sell everything you need for art at the lowest prices of the year. After my first oil workshop (and substantial purchase at the trade show!) I was hooked. I have been painting regularly since then. I have also taught numerous classes in watercolor, watercolor journaling and oils.
